I'm glad my problems are so small, so I'm going to make a small post with small steps that may help me to make small amounts of progress at a time. See my previous post in which I admitted that I have not made significant progress on my desk. I am going to list a few areas in which I can make ANY progress at all, and check back later to measure improvements:
1. Reduce desk clutter by any amount
2. Put away clothes in bedroom monster pile and divert some of them to the give-away box
3. Move infrequently-worn coats out of tiny coat closet and hang up coats people wear daily or so
4. Get the kitchen even cleaner than it is, which means declutter the "bad counter."
That's all. Nothing fancy or overly ambitious. Over and out.
this is a good approach - every mountain climb begins with small steps.
ReplyDeleteHey, I did step #3 yesterday without really remembering the list at all! We now have a usable coat closet (and a bunch of lesser-loved coats clogging up another closet, but whatever.) Thanks for your encouragement!

Looks like a good list and that you'll be very satisfied when you have done some of it. When I'm having a hard time moving forward on projects like those, I do timer work. Meaning, I set a timer and tell myself I can stop when it goes off. Sometimes, it is set for only five minutes, but as Ur-spo said, small steps.
ReplyDeleteLong ago, I worked to watch TV. I told myself that I could turn on the TV to watch the news or whatever when I finished some specific chore. I always got the chore done.
ReplyDeleteI would have starved by now, had I withheld food. Wait, you said TV. I don't watch TV, but I could withhold the computer. I don't have the discipline, though.
ReplyDeleteNew post tomorrow or maybe even tonight, on me and the mister both being rude in the store at almost the same time (are bad moods contagious?)
